For most of us, 2020 was a very rough year. And so far, 2021 has not been much different. But change is in the air.

Last year, “It’s 2020. That’s why,” was the excuse for nearly everything that went wrong. Business down? It’s 2020. Can’t travel? Ditto. Sad stay-at-home Zoom holidays? Yup—2020 strikes again. What day is it? Blursday—same as every other day.

Now we’re well into 2021, and things are finally looking up. Yes, COVID-19 is still very much with us, and so are masks, hand-washing and social distancing. But with close to three million Americans getting vaccinated every day, a more normal way of life may be just ahead.

What does all this mean?

Forget 2020. It’s 2021—time to do business!

As we begin to ease into a cautious version of normal, all those projects, business deals, new products and services that were put on hold or slow-walked through 2020 are coming off the back burner. Make sure you’re ready to go.

  • How does your website look? Is it full of early 2020 (or even 2019) content? Could be time for an update.
  • Have you reached out to clients and prospects in the last six months? No time like the present to remind them that you’re here and ready to help.
  • How will you be selling, supporting and interacting? Make sure your communication tactics are optimized for today’s reality—and be prepared to evolve as the year progresses.

When will life and business get back to normal? Honestly, we can’t know how our world will look six weeks from now, let alone six months. All the more reason to stay focused and be ready to embrace whatever comes.
